In continued desperate steps to keep its winning team intact, Premier League title holders, Leicester City has kicked off moves to block top clubs Manchester United and Arsenal from taking away another of its stars, N’Golo Kante by offering him a new deal.
According to reports in The Sun UK, Leicester City is now set to offer N’Golo Kante a lucrative new contract worth £100,000-a-week to ward off interest from Manchester United. The club had pulled a similar stunt to hold on to its top scorer, Jamie Vardy, who is currently on national assignment with the English Three Lions at the Euros in France, when Arsenal came calling.
It is not only Manchester United that wants Kante, even Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has spoken glowingly of him and there have been reports that the London club is set to make a move for him soon.
In a separate development, fresh reports from the UK say that Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho hopes to use the imminent signing of Zlatan Ibrahimovic to persuade Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti to join Manchester United.
This is according to Corriere dello Sport which expects the Portuguese tactician to make a move soon.
Meanwhile, in the blue part of Manchester, City’s incoming manager, Pep Guardiola reportedly wants to sign both John Stones and Aymeric Laporte this summer.
According to Manchester Evening News, the Everton and Athletic Club centre-backs could cost as much as £85 million combined.
